Here in Philadelphia, Dr. Tau strives to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible. When restoration is required, he plans aggressively so he can treat you conservatively. Using artistry and science, Dr. Tau effectively mimics mother nature and provides you with teeth that are healthy, comfortable, functional, and durable.
We offer the following restorative services:
Bonding/Tooth Colored Fillings
Properly done, these can restore damaged teeth while also improving the color, shape, and size of the originals!
For years, the silver-mercury amalgam was the standard filling material used in dental practices, and many still use it. While they are a reasonable restoration, amalgams have certain shortcomings. Metal does not bond well to teeth, so decay can and does eventually leak into the tooth. But the biggest reason many of our patients are choosing the white bonded fillings has to do with the way they look. Many people don’t want a dark filling advertising its presence. We offer modern, state-of-the-art restorations that are a natural-looking white, contain no metals, and can actually strengthen your teeth. They also bond very tightly with the healthy part of the tooth, so there is much less chance of decay in the future.
All-Porcelain Crowns
Teeth that are broken, worn, or otherwise misshapen or damaged are often topped with crowns, restoring their shape and function. All-porcelain crowns, as opposed to metal or porcelain-metal hybrids, offer the most pleasing, natural-looking appearance.
Restoration for Missing Teeth
Many options exist, depending on the location and cause of the missing teeth.
Bridges can be made to fill gaps between teeth. Crowns cap the existing teeth on either side of the gap, with new teeth made to fit in between.
Dentures and partial dentures can be custom-designed to ensure maximum comfort and beauty.
Dental implants are another permanent solution. After an oral surgeon places a titanium post, Dr. Tau will custom-create natural-looking restorations. These will match the rest of your teeth, function just like the originals, and be impossible for anyone to detect as manufactured.
Porcelain Veneers
Patients with misshapen teeth, unsightly gaps, or deep discoloration might want to consider porcelain veneers. These natural-looking, thin coverings fit over and are bonded to teeth.
Full Mouth Rehabilitation
Severe cases of advanced decay, broken and missing teeth, loose teeth, and resulting pain in the head, neck, jaw, shoulders, and back may benefit from full mouth rehabilitation. This uses a combination of techniques to restore or replace every tooth in the mouth.
Root Canals
Welcome to the one-visit root canal! Dr Tau wants you to enjoy your visit, even if for this procedure! He combines years of experience and education in this area with a finely honed management of your anesthesia (this skill should not be underestimated!).
Teeth with roots that have been damaged or infected used to require extraction. Root canal therapy is now not only tolerable, nearly completely painless. It can be done in Dr. Tau’s office instead of referred elsewhere, and he can even have most patients done in an amazing 30 minutes.
NTI™ Nightguards
Custom-fit mouthguards provide the best fit and therefore the best, most comfortable protection for athletes who participate in baseball, gymnastics, volleyball, football, hockey, basketball, and any other sport that contains a high risk of injury. Upon impact, the mouthguard cushions the blow, preventing chipped or broken teeth and minimizing damage to the tongue, lips, and cheek lining.
